AVMJ for ending caste based reservation

JAMMU, Jan 6: Aarakshan Virodhi Manch Jammu (AVMJ) today pressed the State Government for ending discrimination being done to general category through caste based reservation.
While addressing a press conference, AVMJ president, Ram Pal Seth, held all previous Governments responsible for promoting casteism, communalism and regionalism. He asked present NDA Government to work on its main election slogan “Sab Ka Saath, Aur Sab Ka Vikas”.
Maintaining that past injustices cannot be criteria for reservation, Seth said that poor of all castes be provided economic help through Special Support Measures (SSM). He termed reservation a kiss of death for Nation and its continuation the lowest point of Indian political democracy. He also condemned recently passed ST/SC Atrocity Act by Parliament and demanded that it should be only named as Atrocity Act.
He blamed all Governments for ignoring the needy, deserving and the economically weaker sections for their vote-bank politics. Seth appealed the J&K Government to support the decision of State High Court on reservation in promotion before Supreme Court of India to avoid miscarriage of justice.
