AYUSH experts to provide free consultation during Ayurvedic Carnival from today

JAMMU, Dec 20: Four- day Arogya Carnival, showcasing the benefits of Indian System of Medicine at Parade Ground Jammu from tomorrow, will be attended by the expert doctors in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidda and Homeopathy for providing their free of cost consultation to the people.
This was informed by the Union Joint Secretary, AYUSH Department, Anil Ganeriwala, while addressing a press conference on eve of commencement of the carnival, which will be jointly inaugurated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad, here today.
“During Mela, a number of manufacturers of Ayurvedic and Unani medicines will be displaying their products. In addition to that, a number of highly experienced Naadi-Vaidyas, Homeopaths and Naturopaths will be available all day where the patients can get free consultation,” he said.
Giving more details about the carnival, the Joint Secretary said that the prime object of organizing this fair is to acknowledge the public about the benefits of this medicine system and to create awareness among them that most of the complex diseases can be cured with this alternative medicine system.
Being organized by the Directorate of Indian System of Medicines, J&K Government in collaboration with Department of AYUSH, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and FICCI, the fair will kickoff with a free-health campaign scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm where renowned traditional medical practitioners will give free consultation to the patients.
He said the fair has grown into a country-wide phenomenon organized throughout the year now. “The Department of AYUSH organizes and supports these fairs to encourage the dissemination of information on the benefits and achievements of the AYUSH systems of medicine and for sharing of experiences and best practices between the industry, academia and research institutions,” he explained.
The Director ISM, Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, who accompanied the Union Joint Secretary, said that the fair will attract stakeholders in AYUSH sector like manufacturers, retailers, consumer healthcare product manufacturers, health food producers and processors, medical practitioners and publishers.
