Ayush, Praful, Musaif guide Jammu zone to lift U-14 boys cricket title

JAMMU, May 8: Wicketkeeper batsman, Ayush Andotra’s brilliant innings of unbeaten 43 runs, off-spinner Praful Dhar’s awesome 4-wicket haul and skipper Musaif Ajaz’s fabulous all-round display helped Jammu Zone to defeat Gandhi Nagar zone by 31 runs to lift the title trophy of the District Level Inter-Zonal Under-14 Boys Cricket Tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at KC School ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first, Jammu zone scored 102 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 15 overs. Ayush Andotra played a brilliant innings of unbeaten 43 runs, while Musaif Ajaz contributed 24 runs to the total. For Gandhi Nagar zone, Jugjap, Aditya Paul and Adishwer claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Gandhi Nagar Zone bundled out for a paltry total of 71 runs in 14.5 overs. Daud Ibrahim top scored with 20 runs. Praful Dhar was the wrecker-in-chief for Jammu Zone, who scalped 4 important wickets by conceding just 9 runs in his 3 overs, while Musaif bagged 2 wickets by giving away 12 runs in his 2.5 overs. Tehzim, Suparsh and Shehzad shared one wicket each. Praful emerged the highest wicket taker in the tournament, taking 7 wickets by conceding 19 runs in 8 overs. While Musaif was superb in both the departments, Ayush Andotra apart from displaying superb batting talent, showed extraordinary skills behind the stumps. Madan Mohan was the coach of the Jammu Zone team.
The matches were conducted as part of annual calendar of activities under the supervision of panel of experts from the Department of Youth Servicers and Sports including Veer Ji Bhat, Anju Devi, Saleem-ur-Rehman, BCCI Level-1 coach, Suresh Singh, BCCI Level-1 coach, Jagtar Singh, former Ranji Trophy player, BK Tickoo, Mohd Farooq, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Pankaj Sasun, Madan Mohan, Mukesh Sharma and Satika Sharma.
