Azad takes up issue of J&K students with Govt

JAMMU, Apr 29: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad has come to the rescue of JK students stranded in Bangladesh besides other J&K residents including students, labourers and small traders in Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Punjab, as he spoke to L G GC Murmu today.
Azad also discussed the issue with Minister for External Affairs and Chief Ministers of these States, for early return of all these people from J&K.
Earlier, JKPCC led by G A Mir had written to the Lt Governor G C Murmu with regard to these categories of people, seeking their early return, while also seeking help of LOP in Rajya Sabha in the matter.
Azad took up the issue of students, undergoing studies in Bangladesh with Minister for External Affairs, Jai Shankar and requested him to arrange for their return, as they have completed the quarantine period. The Ministry took up the issue with the respective States, showing willingness of the Ministry to bring them back.
Meanwhile, Azad took up the matter with Murmu today, who expressed the willingness to allow the students to be returned, who are presently stranded in Bangladesh for over a month now.
Azad also took up the issue of stranded people especially students, small traders and labourers from J and K, in Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Punjab, with the LG and the Chief Ministers of these States. They all agreed to create mechanism and facilitate the early return of these people to Jammu and Kashmir.
