BARAMULLA, July 21: Badal Hockey Club defeated Singpora Sports Club in a close contest by four goals to three (4-3) via tie-breaker in the Baramulla District Hockey Championship, which got underway at Government Degree College ground, here.
The Tournament is being organized by Hockey Baramulla, under the aegis of Hockey J&K, under the overall supervision of its president Janak Singh and general secretary, Ranbir Singh Sodhi.
Earlier, the match ended with (1-1) tie in the stipulated time, with Simranjeet Singh scoring the first goal for Singpora in 15th minute of the game and Mohinder Pal Singh of Badal Hockey Club netting an equalizer in the 28th minute of the match.
Despite getting 3 penalty corners, Singpora Club failed to convert them into goals.
Then the decision of the match was left on tie-breakers, wherein Badal Club scripted a (4-3) win over their rivals.
The goal scorers for Badal Club in the tie-breaker were Mohinder Pal Singh, Kamaldeep Singh and Gurpreet Singh, while Balbir Singh and Amandeep Singh missed the target.
For Singpora Sports Club, Sonu and Simran Singh scored the goals, while Hardeep Singh, Amit Pal and Akashdeep Singh failed to score goals in the tie-breaker.
The match was officiated by Satinder Singh, Ranbir Singh, Devinder Singh and Maninder Pal Singh.
Khalsa Club will take on PHC in the next match tomorrow.
