BHADERWAH, July 13: Continuing with its efforts to provide a platform to budding talent, especially girls, Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit based at Bhaderwah organized 4-Day Badminton Championship for College and University Girl students under Operation Sadhbhavana at Bhaderwah, the final of which was played here today.
Deputy Commander 4 Sector Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was the chief guest, while Commanding Officer RR unit Bhaderwah, Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof GM Bhat, Rector Poonch Campus Prof. Vinod Sharma, ASP Rajinder Singh, SDPO Tousif Rishu, HoD Computer Science Dr Jatinder Manhas and PRO Bhaderwah Campus, Arif Haleem Khateeb were the guests of honour.
On the occasion, renowned Educationist, Arif Rana along with Shaista Tabassum Ganie of Bhaderwah Campus conducted the proceedings of the event. The programme was presided over by Major Rashtriya Rifles Bhaderwah.
The sporting event was aimed at promoting sports among youth, especially girls and to give talented youth an opportunity to show their skills at a bigger platform.
The 4-Day Championship, in which 50 players of Bhaderwah Campus and Govt Degree College Bhaderwah completed for the title, was organized at indoor Badminton Court of Bhaderwah Campus.
The high voltage and keenly fought matches of finals saw some incredible skills and talent of female players.
All the winners and runners-up players were presented by Trophies and Cups by Dy Commander 4 Sector RR, Rector Bhaderwah Campus , CO RR unit Bhaderwah and other dignitaries. All the participating players were also given certificates.
Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu lifted the title of Badminton Championship by winning both singles and doubles matches.
The finals for singles was played between Meenakshi Sharma and Prakrati, which was won by Prakrati, while as the finals for doubles was played between the duo of Neeta Devi and Poonam Sharma and the pair of Komal Katal and Prakriti, which was won by latter.
While speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commander 4 Sector RR lauded the players for showing keen interest to make this Championship a mega success.
He thanked Rector Bhaderwah Campus for promoting the sports activities in Campus.
Rector Bhaderwah Campus, Prof Bhat in his address congratulated RR unit Bhaderwah for organising this Badminton Championship especially for girl students of College and Bhaderwah Campus.
