Bail denied to narco smuggler

JAMMU, Apr 30: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Mohd Akram Chowdhary has rejected the bail application of one Parveen Sharma, son of Mohan Lal Sharma of Trikuta Nagar, who was booked under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA) by Bahu Fort Police on December 4, 2016.
After hearing APP Ajay Singh Manhas appearing for the State whereas Advocate DS Saini appearing for the applicant, the court observed, “epidemic of drugs in young generation has assumed alarming dimensions in India.  It has led to increase in the crime rate”.
“With most drug users being in the productive age, the loss in terms of human potential is incalculable, causing damage to their physical, psychological, moral and intellectual growth”, the court further said, adding “the illicit drugs have a high addiction potential and there is gradual increase in their intake, getting the users dependent on these drugs both physically and psychologically”.
With these observations, court rejected the bail application.
