Bail denied to 2 persons booked for indulging in unlawful activities

SRINAGAR, July 24: Special Judge NIA Anantnag Khalil Ahmad Choudhary has denied bail to two persons booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
These persons namely Wajid Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammed Yousuf Sheikh and Aamir Ahmad, son of Abdul Ahad Sheikh, both the residents of Kulgam were booked under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after they were found involved in heinous offences against the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
As per the police, they were investigating the youth for indulging in anti-national activities besides providing monetary aid to them while working for the banned outfit as its Over Ground Worker. They were not only providing shelter to the militants.
After hearing counsel for the petitioners and going through the police report, the Special Judge NIA Anantnag Khalil Ahmad Choudhary observed, “the country has been in the firm grip of spiralling terrorist violence and is caught between deadly pangs of disruptive activities”, adding “apart from many skirmishes in various parts of the country, there were countless serious and horrendous events engulfing many cities with blood bath, firing, looting, mad killing even without sparing women and children”.
The court further observed, “the deplorably determined youth, lured by hard-core criminals and underground extremists and attracted by the ideology of terrorism are indulging in committing serious crimes against the humanity”.
“On overall analysis of the matter in its totality, I am of the considered opinion that at this stage there appear a reasonable grounds for believing that accusation alleged against the applicants/accused is prima-facie true and there appears to be no merit and substance in the bail applications of the petitioners”, the Special Judge said, adding “however, Superintendent District Jail Anantnag is directed to provide better treatment to the accused/applicants after consulting the concerned the doctor having speciality of the ailment of the accused”.
Accordingly, the court rejected the bail application.
