SAMBA, Jan 24: The Vice-Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporat-ion, Balbir Ram Rattan, paid visit to a Skill Development Centre in Jakh area of Samba district today and interacted with the unemployed females, who are undergoing training in various courses run by Krishna Mehta Memorial Skill Development Initiative Centre in the premises of Shri Gandhi Sewa Sadan.
Balbir Ram Rattan, along with Ashok Kumar Dixit, senior Manager,  Gandhi Sewa Sadan & Principal, Krishna Mehta Memorial Skill Development Initiative, visited sections where the females are getting training in Fashion Designing, Tailoring & Cutting and Computer Programming. Each course having duration of six months under PM’ Koushal Vikas Programme.
Ashok Kumar Dixit told the VC that any unemployed female above 18 years of age can get admission in the Centre and there is no income bar or any reservation. He further informed the VC that every course is free and the student on completion of the course gets certificate recognized by Khadi Commission. The funds for free training are provided by Colonel Vimal Mehta, son of Late Krishna Mehta.
Both, VC and the Principal, also went around Gandhi Sewa Sadan run manufacturing units of Kachi Ghani Mustard oil, soap making unit and outlet of the products displayed for sale by Gandhi Sewa Sadan.
Balbir Ram Rattan, while interacting with the female students, asked them to learn their courses minutely so that whatever is taught to them gets printed in the minds and each one of them become self earning instead of depending on parents. He also shared the welfare schemes of the Corporation with them and told them that any unemployed male or female can avail financial assistance in the form of loan to set up own unit to earn livelihood.
