KISHTWAR: Nov 15: “There is need to provide economic security and quality education to the girls of the district so that they become the partners of development”, stated Minister for Social welfare , Forest, Ecology and Environment Bali Bhagat while launching Ladli Beti scheme, a social security programme for girls born in low-income families, here at TRC Kishtwar.
He also launched an insurance-based scheme – AASRA, aims to provide security to low-income groups in the event of death or disability.
Minister of State for R&B and Revenue , Sunil Kumar Sharma, MLA Inderwal G.M Saroori, MLC, Fidrous Tak, Secretary Social Welfare, Sanjeev Verma, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, G. N Balwan, Mission Director, ICDS, Hashmat Ali, Director Social Welfare Jammu, Veer ji Hangloo, Director FPF ,S.K Gupta, SSP Kishtwar, Sandeep wazir and other district officers were present on the occasion.
Referring to the difficult task of bringing up a child, the minister said Ladli Beti scheme is aimed to balance child sex ratio and will provide much-needed economic security to the girl child born in a poor family.
Stressing for proper implementation of both the schemes, the Minister exhorted upon the field functionaries of the Social Welfare Department to work vigorously so that the benefits of these schemes reach to deserving beneficiaries.
Sunil Sharma while speaking on the occasion said that alarming trend of declining child sex ratio is a matter of great concern and such schemes will definitely help in balancing the ration.
Earlier, Bali Bhagat along with Sunil Sharma inaugurated three Forest sale depots at Hadyal and Kuleed and one depot of SFC at Sarkut Kishtwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Bali said that the inauguration of these sale depots will solve the problem of timber shortage in the district. He said efforts will be made to ensure availability of timber in these sale depots for the benefit of the people of the district
