JAMMU, Apr 20: Raising serious concern over curtailing of upper age limit to 32 years for the aspirants applying for jobs advertised by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), former Minister, Bali Bhagat demanded that the aspirants be provided one time age relaxation in the interest of justice.
In a statement issued here today, Bali said that the upper age limit to apply for jobs advertised by JKPSC till last year was 36 years for general category candidates and 39 years for other category and the aspirants falling in the said age limit were preparing accordingly and waiting for the advertisements to be issued by the JKPSC. “The recent advertisements for jobs by the JKPSC have come as a bolt from the blue for the thousands of job aspirants as these advertisements have fixed the age limit as 32 years for general category and 37 for other categories thus rendering a large number of the aspirants ineligible for the said posts due to age bar,” he said.
The senior BJP leader asserted that the curtailment of the upper age limit by the JKPSC amounts to gross injustice to the job aspirants and demanded that the upper age limit be reverted to 39 years.
“The last junior scale officer examination was postponed a number of times, and the JKPSC failed to complete it on time. This obviously amounts to injustice done to the candidates by the JKPSC, and students who have been burning midnight oil to crack the aforesaid exams would be the worst sufferers if they are not given a chance,” Bali said.
He appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to resolve the issue of age limit so that lakhs of job aspirants can apply for the said posts.
