Ban on animal sacrifice during Mani Mahesh Yatra

DODA, Jan 25: Mani Mahesh Yatra Dal (Bhaderwah) has appealed all the devotees that there will be no animal sacrifice during annual Mani Mahesh pilgrimage en-route or at the pilgrimage site in view of ban imposed by the Himachal Pradesh High Court on the animal sacrifice.
The Executive Committee of the Yatra Dal, in a communiqué to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and Deputy Commissioner, Doda, has informed that in view of the restrictions imposed by the Himachal Pradesh High Court, there will not be any animal sacrifice during Mani Mahesh Yatra. The members also appealed all the devotees/ people from Jammu region not to violate the directives of the High Court during the annual pilgrimage from this year onwards.
They said as per clear court directives no person throughout the State of Himachal Pradesh shall sacrifice any animal in any place of public religion worship, including all lands and buildings near such places of religious worship which are ordinarily connected for religious purposes or in any ceremony or procession connected with the religious worship in a public street/ road forthwith.
