Bandipore to have Sports Academy: Taj

SRINAGAR, May 26: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din has said that the Government has embarked on a plan to expand sports infrastructure in the State and for this purpose the Central Government has also granted a package to J&K.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting after attending the concluding ceremony of a football tournament in Bandipore, Minister said strengthening of sports infrastructure in the State has been flagged as priority and efforts are on to cover rural areas to benefit more and more youth.
Taj said Government intends to raise and further strengthen sports infrastructure at district levels to facilitate more and more sports interactions.
He announced that a Sports Academy would be set up at Bandipora to train and coach budding players. He said the academy would not only train the local youth in sports but also provide them with opportunities to compete at State and national levels.
Taj said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan of strengthening sports infrastructure in the State under which all the completed stadia would be provided sports kits and equipment. Besides, he said the coaching of players would be further improved.
Former Minister, Usman Majeed also addressed the public meeting.
