JAMMU, Dec 22: Banyan International School celebrated Annual Day in which over one thousand students from all classes performed on stage, showcasing the theme, “Tapestry of India” through music and dance, today.
The programme commenced with a performance of the Saraswati Vandana, a dance recital that paid homage to the Goddess Saraswati. After the welcome address and the felicitation of the guests, the chief guest and the guests of honour inaugurated the day’s proceedings by lighting the ceremonial lamp, along with Sneh Gupta, chairman of the school and Shounak Lahiri, Principal.
The Chief Guest for the function was the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad. The Guests of Honour were Professor MPS Ishar, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, Janak Raj Gupta, former Member of Parliament from Jammu and B. Jairam, Head of Pearson Schools.
The Principal in his Annual Report addressed the audience regarding the future direction of the School. The Vice Principal, Monika Sethi, then spoke about the past year’s achievements.
The chief guest, after distributing prizes, gave his blessings to the children and spoke at the rapid growth of the school. The speeches by the Guests of Honour were interspersed with performances by the School Choir singing traditional pieces and the School Band, which performed an original instrumental piece.
The programme then concluded with the Director, Harinder Mahajan, giving the vote of thanks.
