Bar to continue indefinite strike

JAMMU, Dec 2: J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu today decided to continue its ongoing indefinite strike in support of demand of restoration of powers of registration to the Judicial Magistrates.
The decision was taken in the general house meeting of the Bar held in the conference hall of the District Court Complex at Janipur under the chairmanship of its president Advocate Abhinav Sharma.

Majority of the members including senior advocates, who participated in the general house meeting, expressed their views on the agenda points viz decision of the Government regarding divesting Judicial Magistrate of powers of registration of documents and simultaneously conferring the same upon the Revenue Officers and shifting of High Court from Janipur to Raika.
Advocate Abhinav Sharma made the house aware about the developments which have taken place during the ongoing strike of the Association. He also informed the house that the Government has given its proposal to the Bar during the meeting held few days back for providing accommodation in the PDC building near the Court Complex Janipur or to some other accommodation near the court complex.
He also briefed the house that the Chief Justice has already made aware to the team of the Bar Association and other members that there was no decision on shifting of the High Court from Janipur to Raika.
Later, the members unanimously decided to continue the ongoing indefinite strike in support of the demand of restoration of powers of registration to the Judicial Magistrates.
Meanwhile, Bar Association Samba staged protest demonstration against the Government for not conceding the demands of the agitating lawyers.
