SRINAGAR, Oct 23: Musharaf Qayoom, a talented athlete from Baramulla, has clinched the Eurasian Professional Sanda League title in Georgia, defeating a former champion from Armenia in a dominant three-round match. His path to this prestigious title began with a stellar performance at the Batumi International Wushu Championship, held from October 17 to 23, where he earned a gold medal and a cash prize of Rs 40,000.
Recently transitioning to the senior division, Musharaf has previously garnered several medals in the Junior National Wushu Championship. His exceptional skills not only earned him a spot in the Sanda League but also a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with the championship belt.
Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, Wushu Association of J&K praised him for bringing pride to both the country and the Union Territory of J&K. Dronacharya Awardee Kuldeep Handoo also extended his best wishes as Musharaf prepares for the World Wushu Championship in Brazil in September 2025.
