Baramulla lifts Inter-District Football Championship

JAMMU, Oct 16: District Baramulla lifted Inter-District State Level Football Championship for Under-14 boys by defeating district Ganderbal by 4-1 goals in final match held at GGM Science College, here today.
For Baramulla, Zubair Ahmed scored 2 goals while Furkan Nabi and Mohd Irfan scored one each. The only goal for Ganderbal was done by Sayed Qamar.
Earlier, in 1st semifinal, Baramulla beat Samba by 1-0 goals. The winning goal was scored by Zubair Ahmed. In the 2nd semifinal, Ganderbal thrashed Budgam by 1-0 goal. Yasir of Baramulla scored the winning goal in the first half of the match.
Deputy Director, Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Kanchan Bala, presented trophies to the winning and runners up teams.
In all 135 teams drawn from 9 districts of twin divisions of the State were competing for top honours.
The tournament was organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) as a part of Annual Calendar of activities of the department under the patronage of Navin Agarwal, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K Government and Sukhdev Raj, organizing secretary.
The matches were officiated by Bharat Bhushan, Ajay Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Rohit Gupta, Naveen Kumar, Showkat Ahmed and Mohd Shafi.
