Baramulla Premier League organized by Army concludes

Srinagar, Oct 17: The two-month long Baramulla Premier League 2015 that was organized by Army’s Dagger vision under the aegis of Chinar Corps concluded today.
A Defence spokesman said the tournament saw participants from 32 teams across the Baramulla district, engaging in a keenly contested competition that evinced keen interest while drawing large crowds.
“The tournament was conducted over a span of four stages: the league stage, the pre-quarter finals, quarter finals and semi-finals culminating in a grand finale on today in an exciting face-off between Baramulla Cricket Club (BCC) reds and Kanispora XI at the  Showkat Ali Stadium in Baramulla,” the spokesman said.
He said the final saw a massive turnout of the populace from including prominent personalities from the civil administration, senior Army and police officers from the District. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Chinar Corps Commander Lt General Satish Dua.
Speaking on the occasion, the Core Commander drew attention to the Chinar Corps, continued efforts towards building bridges with the people and nurturing a sporting culture, the Defence spokesman said, adding that the annual sporting extravaganza provided a platform to young, budding cricketers to showcase their talents.
He said: “The winners were presented with trophies at a colorful closing ceremony organised to mark the culmination of the tournament. Winners of the recently concluded Baramula Girls Badminton League which was held from October 13 to October 15 were also facilitated by the chief guest.”
