JAMMU, Aug 26: A batch of 154 trainees was flagged off to various Vocational Training Providers (VTPs) of Punjab and Haryana to get training in various vocational courses, under the scheme launched by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the year 2010.
The scheme envisions the training of 16000 youth of the State in various registered and recognized VTPs. Out of the targeted 16000 youths to be trained, 8000 have already been trained while the remaining target is set to be achieved this year.
Taking up the challenge of training remaining 8000 youth, Deputy Director, Technical Education, Jammu, MI Kohli, today flagged off a batch of 154 trainees along with three coordinators to various VTPs of Punjab and Haryana. The batch comprises trainees from various districts and blocks of Jammu Division including Jammu, RS Pura, Samba, Doda, Ramban, Banihal, Mendhar, Sunderbani and Reasi.
The three identified VTPs for which the trainees were left, are Mehtab Computer Society, Barnala, Punjab where 50 trainees are to be trained, C-Tech Institute, Ropar, Punjab where 38 trainees to be trained and G&G ITC, Raipurani (Panchkula), Haryana, where 35 trainees will get training.
Before flagging off the batch, the youth were duly counseled by the Deputy Director about the benefits of the scheme. They were also apprised that this scheme shall bear all the expenses related to the travel, training, boarding and lodging.
