JAMMU, Dec 23: Riding on outstanding batting display by middle-order batsmen Ravi Teja and GH Vihari, Hyderabad scored a decent total of 341 runs for the loss of 4 wickets on day-1 of the Ranji trophy Group-C match at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
Earlier, put into bat by J&K skipper Parvez Rasool, Hyderabad lost their first wicket in the form of TL Suman at his individual score of 9 runs and the team’s total of 22 runs. He was bowled by speedster Samiullah Beigh. However, Hyderabad consolidated their position through a partnership of 86 runs between opener PA Reddy and Ravi Teja to take the score to 109 runs, before the former was run out at 49 runs and the team’s total of 109/2 in 29 overs. Then a huge partnership of 209 runs between Teja (153*) and GH Vihari (109) helped the visitors to end the day at 341/4. Teja scored the runs in 217 balls with the help of 17 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Vihari took 164 balls for his knock, which included 18 delectable boundaries. Both the batsmen sent the Jammu and Kashmir bowlers on a leather hunt, hitting the boundaries at will, with utmost timing, fluid grace and utter brilliance.
Both were delight to watch. After the fall of Vihari’s wicket at 312 runs, who was dismissed by part-time spinner Bandeep Singh, speedster Ramdayal plotted dismissal of SA Qadri at his individual score of 8 runs and team’s total of 337 runs. Ravi Teja (153) and AJ Shinde (4) were at the crease when the stumps were drawn today.
For J&K, Sammiullah Beigh, Ramdayal and Bandeep Singh shared 1 wicket apiece.
