JAMMU, July 4: Bari Brah-mana Industries Association members held a peaceful demonstration at SIDCO Chowk, Bari Brahmana demanding implementation of GST in the J&K State without any further delay.
The protest program was held under the leadership of Suresh Mahajan, senior vice president, BBIA in presence of Ajay Langer- general secretary, Vivek Singhal- Secretary, Viraaj Malhotra- treasurer BBIA along with Romesh Badyal, president Birpur Small Scale Industries Association, Ritesh Mahajan, general secretary, Association of Industries, Samba and members of all associations demanding the implementation of GST in the State with immediate effect to save the Industry.
Suresh Mahajan and Romesh Badyal along with members raised their serious concern in respect of casual attitude of State Govt towards the implementation of GST in the State resulting huge financial losses suffered by the Industrial units since last few days due to stoppage of production. They said no no inter-State movement of raw materials and finished good has been witnessed for the last about one week. Unit holders have no option but to suspend the production, retrenchment of workers, as they are unable to pay Bank interest, term loan Interest & installments, Power bills and other Govt dues, wages and other related expenses of the Industrial sector.
Members further raised their concern about the reasons that some vested interests in the State are trying to disturb the Industrial growth in the State with their ill designs to destroy the present Industries working in our State and also creating road blocks for future Industrial growth as a fear prevails in the mind of prospective investors from outside the State.
Members request the Chief Minister Mehooba Mufti, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu and Industries and Commerce Minister Chander Parkash Ganga to pass the GST Bill in current Assembly Session called by J&K Govt & implement the same in our State and all present State/Central Fiscal Incentives should be continued under the GST regime for the survival of the existing Industry in the State as well as to attract the new investment from outside and also within the State.
BBIA further appealed to all the political parties of J&K to come forward to pass the GST bill in current Assembly session and help the Govt to implement the GST in our State immediately for smooth working of Industries and open the doors for providing the employment opportunities to the local youths of the State.
