JAMMU, Oct 14: Bari Brah-mana Industries Association (BBIA) today urged the Government to provide uninterrupted power supply to industrial sector.
Addressing a meeting of the association held here today, its president, Lalit Mahajan, raised serious concern over failure of Power Development Department (PDD) to supply 24 hours uninterrupted power to industrial sector despite the fact that Chief Engineer (CE), M&RE, Jammu instructed the Executive Engineers STD Division I & II to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Industrial sector vide its office order No- CEJ/PS/10596-602 dated 06-10-2015.
“In spite of repeated representations given to the Deputy Chief Minister who is also our Power Minister and Industries & Commerce Minister, no action has been taken by the Department to restore the 24 hours power supply to the Industrial Sector which shows the casual attitude of the department towards the industrial sector who is working in spite of all the odds”, the members said
They alleged that all is not well at present, as the units located in the Bari Brahmana Industrial Area are suffering very badly due to unscheduled power curtailment during day time. “Government has failed to provide requisite funds for the repair and maintenance of the Receiving Station BBI and BBII, in spite of the fact that BBIA is contributing Rs 120 crore annually for the power supply to the Industrial units”, they added.
“PDD also failed to release the power connections to those Industrial Units whose cases were sanctioned by the Designated Committee but lying pending since long for approval with the Administrative Department for the reason best known to the concerned Officials”, the meeting said.
BBIA appealed Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh and Industries & Commerce Minister, Chander Prakash, to intervene into the matter and issue immediate orders for the restoration of 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to the industrial sector and also issue necessary instruction to resolve other issues on priority basis.
