JAMMU, Oct 28: A local Under-19 cricketer, Vanshaj Sharma (Player ID 17026) resident of Bishnah area of Jammu has been banned by the BCCI for allegedly submitting multiple birth certificates with different date of birth.
For this act, he has been banned from participating in all BCCI tournaments for a period of two years with effect from 27th October, as per handout issued by JKCA.
It has been further stated in the handout that after completion of two years ban, the player can only participate in Senior Men’s tournament conducted by the BCCI and will not be allowed to play in any age group tournaments of the BCCI.
Brigadier Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA said, “JKCA has informed time to time that the players should not indulge in any such acts as the punishment given by the BCCI adversely affects the career of the player. In the instant case, Vanshaj Sharma migrated to another State and applied from there as a member of U-23 Men’s team of Bihar. However, since he was first registered by the JKCA in 2021-22, his data was available with the BCCI and despite him having changed the Association; he was caught for submitting multiple birth certificates. As a consequence of which he has been banned from participating in any tournament for 2 years and from participating in age group tournaments for his entire life.”
The officials said he was registered in 20-21 as a U-19 player, but he never played for JKCA. He re-enrolled himself as a player of Bihar Cricket Association as U-23 player with a different DOB, but he was caught by BCCI and banned for submitting multiple DOB certificates.
