Bengal takes first innings lead against J&K

KOLKATA, Jan 15:
Hosts Bengal took vital first innings lead against Jammu and Kashmir 315 all out, as the visitors fell short of 72 runs while chasing 387 runs in the first innings on 3rd day of the 4-day Ranji Trophy match at Eden Gardens here today.
Bengal in their second knock scored 216/3 leading by 288 runs with seven wickets in hand as Manoj Tiwary batting on 52 and Wriddhiman Saha not out eight at end of third day.
Openers Abhimanyu Easwaran was 63, Arindam Das made 60.
J&K resuming their overnight score of 183/5 added another 132 in remaining five wickets, thanks to a stubborn 72 runs from Bandeep Singh and Ram Dayal’s unbeaten 62 in 113 balls.
Overnight not out batsman Singh (27) stuck to the pitch despite his overnight partner debutante Shubhan Singh Pundir was bowled by Ashoke Dinda without adding a run to his score of 34.
Bandeep Singh finally scored 73 hitting eight boundaries and a six in 184 balls and Ram Dayal, who took four wickets in 115 runs, made a valiant 62 runs in 113 balls with seven 4s and a six to take team score to 315 in first innings.
Again Ahoke Dinda emerged top wicket taker for Bengal with 3/102, Sourashish Lahiri 2/45 and Amitava Banerjee 2/68. (UNI)
