Better connectivity to Bhaderwah

Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir because of its enchanting beauty and many a topographical similarity with Kashmir, it is also known as ‘Mini Kashmir’ hence naturally a destination for tourism and related activities. Though some development has been taking place in recurring manner here but the main hindrance in expanding and widening tourism potential has been lack of better connectivity. It is heartening to learn that a proposal by the Union Tourism Ministry for better connectivity to Bhaderwah has been formulated which was aimed at connecting it with Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. A gondola service would be provided here to give an added facility related to tourism besides a roadway to be built .
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was to be assigned this task which was revealed recently by the Union Tourism Minister in a function organised by Smart City Foundation during his Doda visit. He felt the area was quite suitable for adventure sports as well. We have been stressing that ancillary facilities and activities to tourism needed to be developed to create more interest in the tourists and to increase their footfall. A three day cultural carnival recently arranged was one good step towards that end which was attended by the Minister as well. There was no dearth of talent in cultural fields in and around the area as also no shortage of places of interest to visit provided better connectivity, facilities and opportunities were created.
