RAJOURI, Sept 29: Department of Management Studies in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organized a seminar on `Sustainable Development’.
Speaking on the occasion, BGSBU Vice-Chancellor Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal said that sustainable development will not be brought about by policies of Government only but it must be taken up by society at large.
Although policies play vital role in everything but the targets can be achieved only when people realize their responsibility, he said adding that every human being should pledge to take part in development but it should not be at the cost of other human beings.
He said sustainable development is to fulfill the needs of present generations without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Earlier welcoming the guests, Prof S K Gupta, Head Department of Management Studies put light on the aims and objectives of the seminar and said that such events will inculcate the spirit of managerial & communication skills among the students. He also made reference of Gross National Happiness (GNH), Human Development Index (HDI) including Earth Charter principals which is backbone for sustainable development.
Registrar MR Choudhary & Dean Academic Affairs Prof AK Koul also spoke on the occasion and assured full support to the department in organizing such events.
In the Seminar 10 scholars namely Mohammad Aslam, Peerzada Raqeeb Hussain, Musharaf Nabi, Chandni Sharma, Mohtisim Imtiyaz Rafiqi, Zahid Rahim Batt, Jhangir Ali Mantoo, Waqar Mehmood, Aamir Shabir and Shipla Suri presented their papers on the topic.
Others who were present on the occasion included Col KK Dogra Principal Polytechnic, Suneet Gupta, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor, faculty members, staff and students.
