RAJOURI, June 3: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri organised a Webinar on leadership during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
The objective of the Webinar was to discuss the challenges faced by the leaders during present times and a way forward for cultivating solutions and building capabilities that meet stakeholders in the new shared context.
Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU inaugurated the webinar.
In his address, Prof Musarrat said that the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated unprecedented change in our daily lives; compelling us to adapt quickly to operate and survive.
Prof Musarrat said that leadership is a continuous process and the organizations that can evolve, adapt, and turn challenges into opportunities will be the ones who thrive during the crisis.
He applauded the organising team for hosting the Webinar.
Prof Himanshu Rai, Director IIM Indore was the keynote speaker on the occasion, who in his address highlighted the historical timeline of leadership and said that leadership can be learned and one can become a leader if he or she learns some specific abilities.
Prof Himanshu also highlighted the five dimensions of leadership during crisis, which included Artfulness, Diplomacy, Detachedness, Fair-mindedness and Sagacity.
He emphasised on the importance of communication and said that people need information not data during the time of crisis. He said that the leader should always look forward to self-improvement, along with willingness to know the people he or she is with and help them during the crisis.
Earlier Prof Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs delivered the welcome address.
Over 300 participants from across the country and abroad attended the webinar.
Those who participated in the webinar included Prof Naseem Ahmed, Dean Management Studies, Prof GM Malik, Dean of Students, heads and faculty members of various schools of studies.
Webinar was hosted on Zoom platform and was organised by Media Cell of the University.
The Webinar was coordinated by Dr Danish Iqbal Raina and Dr Mubashir Majid Baba.
