Sir,
This has reference to the photograph published on the front page of the DE Mar 19.
The said photograph clearly reveals the ruthless cutting of trees in Bhaderwah by timber smugglers. In case this process is not forthwith, it will have pernicious consequences on environment, wildlife and the human population living in and around these forests.
Already the forest area in the area has shrunk as it has been cleared for residential purposes and farming. There is urgent need to make forest laws more stringent so that culprits desist from doing this dirty job.
It is incumbent upon forest officials police and local people to keep a constant watch over these anti-social elements.
The man-animal conflict is also attributed to the loss of forests. Many people including animals have lost their lives during these gory encounters.
Yours etc….
Sanjay Parihar
