Bhalla dedicates recreational park, multipurpose hall to people

JAMMU, Mar 24: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has said that a comprehensive plan is under strong consideration of the Government for beautifying Jammu by making proper use of open spaces and developing recreational parks and walkways for facilitating people.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after dedicating recreational park , developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1 crore by Floriculture Department, at Narwal Pine here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that the park has been dedicated to the people with the facilities of walkways, seating, landscaping, illumination, drinking water and other required facilities. He asked the Floriculture Department to plant ornamental, medicinal besides variety of flower plants in the park for making the place attractive.
The Minister issued instructions to concerned departments to gear up their men and machinery to maintain and renovate all the recreational parks situated in urban pockets with latest facilities.
Mr. Bhalla said the Government was committed to develop healthy environment in urban areas by developing more and more greener patches on the open spaces with the facilities like seating, drinking water, , illumination, walkway, landscaping and fencing. He called upon the people to avoid littering inside the parks and help in maintaining parks clean.
The Minister called upon the people not to dump waste material in roads and parks, adding that such practices have dampened the beauty of the place. He said ‘it is the duty of every citizen to maintain cleanliness in the parks and areas.
Mr. Bhalla asked the officers of PDD and Telephone Department to shift the public utilities of their respective departments from the park and put these in safer places for the use of general public.
At Jeevan Nagar, the Minister inaugurated Multipurpose Community Hall, completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 17 lakh. He said the place would provide all facilities like kitchen and drinking water facilities during their social as well as religious function celebrations on minimum rates.
Later, Mr. Bhalla visited Greater Jammu in Sector-10 and conducted Public Grievances Redressal Camp there.
Responding to the demand of locals, the Minister said Government has earmarked Rs. 15 lakh for development of local park, Rs. 15 lakh for bathing ghat  for ladies and Rs. 30 lakh for construction of lanes and drains in the locality. He said that the works would be started soon after completing tendering formalities.
For construction of Multipurpose Community Hall in Greater Jammu, Mr. Bhalla called upon the people to identify the land for this purpose.
The Minister also distributed Rs. 1 lakh cheque to one Sham Lal, son of  Pritam Chand of Greater Jammu, an employee of Power Development Department as financial assistance who lost his upper limbs due to electric shock while performing his routine duty.
