Bhalla demands concrete plans for underprivileged section of society

JAMMU, Apr 2: Performing duties and taking responsibilities of leader of poor and down-trodden in this hour of crisis, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today continued distributing ration and other necessary items among needy and poor families of Gandhi Nagar constituency at Nai Basti, Ashok Nagar and Bhour Camp.
Prominent among those who accompanied Bhalla included Vijay Choudhry, Suresh Sharma, Surinder Sodhi, Kewal Sharma, Bitty Sharma, Satinder Singh, OP Sharma, Sat Pal, Ch. Ajit, Gurpreet Gopi, Ashwani Anita Devi Darshan Kumar, Kishor Vohra, Vijay Dogra, PCC Member and Block President Amrit Bali.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that while the whole world is facing the challenge of COVID-19 and we all understand the only possible solution for now is to break the chain to stop spreading the infection through social distancing, however at the same time we need to think about the survival of the poorest of the poor people of our country, especially daily wagers who survive and live hand to mouth.
The people who are dependent on their daily earnings are facing multiple problems due to lockdown and the need is to chalk out concrete plans, funds and distribution mechanism for such unprivileged section of society.
Bhalla said that we can’t afford to neglect needy during the coronavirus outbreak, asking Govt to help out those affected the most by the pandemic.
He said it was the Government’s responsibility to ensure that not a single citizen goes hungry.
Bhalla appealed the Central Government to announce a relief package for the “poorest of the poor” hit hard by the loss of jobs and income as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak, a lump sum amount as cash transfer into the accounts of the needy.
Former Minister maintained that the critical need is to provide food and shelter to migrant workers, who are trudging along on foot for thousands of kilometres to reach home amid a nationwide lockdown.
