JAMMU, May 7: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today expressed concerns over the problems being faced by J&K residents stuck in Jammu and other parts of the country and asked the authorities to bring them back to home.
He said that most of them have already completed their quarantine period owing to continuous lockdown.
“Students, traders, labourers are stuck outside and their families are in pain and distress, therefore, authorities must look into the matter at an earliest and bring them back immediately,” Bhalla said.
He said number of people who had gone to Jammu for seasonal requirements for short duration, including small scale seasonal vendors, labourers, students along with their parents & patients are now badly stuck in Jammu with no arrangements to bear scorching heat of summer.
He further said that there is a huge enhancement in the pain and stress of the people amid holy month of Ramadan. “Amid Covid-19 lockdown, spending holy month without loved ones, stuck away from home would be painful”, Bhalla maintained.
He further said that all the existing Covid-19 protocols can be followed while bringing back all the struck people back to Jammu & Kashmir, adding that as these stranded labourers could not return home on time, the agriculture and horticulture work has badly been hit in J&K due to non-availability of the labour.
Bhalla urged the Government to bring service and maintenance outlets as well as warehouses storing electronic products under essential services during the lockdown.
He said with extended lockdown period and nearly 98% of internet connectivity being used through smartphones, tablets and laptops, there is tremendous pressure on these gadgets, adding the higher-than-normal usage will result in the need for regular maintenance, repair, service and replacement of old gadgets.
Meanwhile continuing to extend his helping hand by distributing ration and other essential supplies among needy persons in various parts of the Gandhi Nagar Constituency amid lockdown due COVID-19 pandemic, Bhalla today distributed ration items at Rohi Morh, Bhour Camp, Govind Pura, Old Sheikh Nagar and Nanak Nagar Sector 9.
