Bhalla exhorts students to work hard for academic excellence

JAMMU, Jan 11: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, has called upon the students to work hard for achieving excellence in coming exams which is imperative for a better tomorrow.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering of parents and students at an 33rdannual day function of May Fair Higher Secondary School at Zorawar Singh auditorium, here today.
Editor-in-Chief, Daily Taskeen news paper Suhail Kazmi, State Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, I D Soni, Administrator Jammu University, Prof. D L Choudhary, Chairman of the School V K Basur, Secretary, Anita Basur, Director, Abhey Basur and Principal, Ranjit Kour were also present on the occasion.
Bhalla said that annual days not only provide platform to the students to exhibit their hidden talent, but also educate them about culture and heritage of the State. He urged upon the students to actively take part in co-curricular activities besides concentrating on academics for their overall personality development.
The Minister asked the teaching fraternity to provide quality education to the students so that they would become civilized citizen. He said education is imperative for better tomorrow and asked students to share their knowledge with everyone to improve their intelligence.
Listing the measures taken by the Government to improve the standard of education in the state, the Minister said a prestigious state-of-the-art auditorium is coming up at Govt Girls’ High School Gandhi Nagar to promote co-curricular activities among the students, adding that the project would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 8 crore. The auditorium would be fully air-conditioned with facilities for projector room, toilet, dressing room and VIP room.
Later, the Minister released the school magazine “May Fair-2013′ and appreciated the efforts of the management for their hard work in preparing this informative and educative magazine.
Later, Bhalla also distributed certificates and mementos among the meritorious students who brought laurels for school in academic, extracurricular activities in 2011-12 session.
