Bharat, Kabul, Aseem, Sunil, Monika emerge winners; sail to next round

KATRA, Oct 10: Bharat, Kabul Bhukhari, Aseem Sharma, Sunil Dutt and Monika Sharma emerged winners and sailed into the next round of the All India Devotional Song Competition (Day 5) organized during the ongoing Navratra Festival, here.
Bharat from Jammu secured first position, whereas Kabul Bhukhari from Mumbai and Aseem Sharma from Jammu clinched second position and Sunil Dutt from Shimla and Monika Sharma from Jammu shared third position.
The competition commenced with lightning of the traditional lamp by Additional CEO, SMVDSB MK Bhandari in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Tara Singh, Assistant CEO, SMVDSB Anil Sharma, Deputy Director Tourism Mr Bhagat, Yoga Nand Ji Maharaj, Sham Lal Kesar, President Hotel and Restaurant Association Katra, Shiv Sharma, Sardari Lal Dubey, Harish Dubey, Virender Kesar, member, Navratra Festival Committee.
The competition was adjudged by panel of judges including Dr Surinder Sharma, Head of the Department of Music in Center for Excellence Government Degree College Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Dr Usha Bhagati, former HoD Music, PGMAM College Jammu, Parveen Sabherwal, former HoD Music, Government College for Women Parade and Gandhi Nagar.
While speaking, MK Bhandari said that All India Devotional Song Competition is a platform for the up-coming singers to exhibit their hidden talent.
Rakesh Wazir, Chairman of All India Devotional Competition cum Navratra Committee member conducted the proceedings of the competition.
The competition is being organized by SMVDSB and Department of Tourism with active support of Hotel and Restaurant Association Katra, Zee News, Zee Jagran, MH Shradha, Disha Channel, Big 92.7 FM, J&K Bank, Jai Mata Di Sewa Sangh (Prasadi), Nidesh Builders Jammu Private Limited, District Administration, Katra Municipality and the local host community.
Meanwhile, Abhishek was adjudged as best comedian in the “Hassaya Vayang Pratiyogita” event, which concluded at Durga Bhawan.
A cash prize amounting Rs 25,000 was awarded to him for his extra ordinary performance in the humorous stage show organized as part of festival by the Hassaya Vayang Manch, Katra with active support of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and State Tourism Department.
Atul and Shazi Khan were adjudged 2nd and 3rd winner in the contest respectively.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was the chief guest while Director Tourism, Soujanya Sharma was the guest of honour on the occasion.
President of the Manch, Gopal Padha, Vice president, Arun, general secretary, Sunny Jamwal, creative Head, Bhanu Bandral and members of the Manch were also present.
