JAMMU, Apr 5: Bhartiya Kala Sangam (BKS) here today organised a Dogri Folk Music programme under Repertory Grant of Union Ministry of Culture.
Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary, Department of Tourism and Culture was the chief guest whereas Trishla Kundal, Special Secretary, Culture presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion Sarmad Hafeez said that folk culture of any region determines the identity of the people living there and regular endeavour is needed to continue the development of art, culture and languages of Dogra land and its heritage.
Earlier welcoming the guests, Sohail Kazmi, patron BKS apprised the audience about various activities carried out by BKS to promote Dogri Folk Music and literature.
T.R Sharma, chairman BKS; Romesh Singh Chib, Director BKS and other prominent dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
The artists who participated and presented Dogri Folk items were Neta Adarsh and party from Ramnagar, Kamal Devi and party from Udhampur, Suresh Manhas and party from Jammu.
Jatinder Kumar, MD Ayush; Dr. Vandana Dogra (Ayush), Sanjeev Bali, Dr. Savita Chib, Vinod Kumar, Mohider Sharma, DIC office, Chander Mohan Sharma, Ram Pal Dogra, Arun Chib, Journalist, Dr. Rajinder Thapa, Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Ayush and others were also present on the occasion.
The function was conducted by Rajni Sharma, Radio and TV Anchor and vote of thanks was presented by Tilak Raj Tagotra, renowned Singer.
