JAMMU, Mar 22: Bhaveshwar Singh and Raghav Dogra emerged winner and runner-up respectively in the under 15 boys category of the Badminton tournament, which commenced today. The tournament was organized by Armed Range Office, Jammu at indoor badminton hall.
In under 15 girls category girls, Rifat Saleem emerged winner, whereas, Ayushi Jamwal was adjudged runner-up.
The winner in under 17 boys category was Divum Gupta and the runner up was Aditya Kundal, whereas, in girls category, Gulfam Saleem emerged winner and Arushi Jamwal was declared runner-up.
In Veterans category, KDS Jamwal was the winner, while, Surinder Gupta was adjudged runner-up.
In Open category boys, Vipul Saini trounced Aman Badyal and emergded winner, whereas, in in the closing function, in open category girls, Diksha outplayed Prabhjot and emerged winner.
On the valedictory function, PR Manhas, IGP Armed/IR Jammu Zone was the chief guest, who distributed mementos and certificates among the winners and other participants in presence of Johnny William, DIG AP, T Punchok, DIG IR Range Jammu, senior Police Officers, head of education institutions, officials of Badminton Association and clubs, sports lovers, members from civil society, etc.
Earlier, Johnny William, DIG AP presented the welcome address and also presented the details of the tournament.
In the tournament, more than 600 players from various districts of Jammu province including Rajouri, Poonch and Doda Districts participated and exhibited their skills, he added.
