NEW DELHI, June 11: National Panthers Party chief patron Prof  Bhim Singh called upon Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and sought his intervention for the conduct of delimitation of Legislative Assembly in J&K.
The NPP leader during meeting with Home Minister  urged  for his strong and personal intervention to ensure that the people of J&K do not suffer further on this account as it was the only State which had been kept out of the delimitation process of the Kuldip Commission.  He said that delimitation was not conducted vis-à-vis Lok Sabha constituencies even. This was totally discriminatory and against the mandate of the Constitution of India.
Prof Singh demanded rotation of seven reserved (SC) seats in Jammu region, political reservation for  Gujjars and Bakerwals. He said the present Government was not interested in holding delimitation  and if it was allowed in the same way, the people will be denied justice for half a Century which will be a great blunder on the part of Government.
He said delimitation was done in all the states after 2011 census but J&K is the only State which was ignored. He also stressed for reducing the term of Assembly from six years to five years in the State.
