SRINAGAR, Dec 28: National Panthers Party Patron, Prof. Bhim Singh today asked the separatists to shun rigidity and take part in the 2014 Assembly elections so that some alternative is provided to the people.
Addressing a press conference here, Prof Singh said that the successive State Governments have failed to mitigate the sufferings of the people and that people remaining aloof from the electoral politics should join the fray at the earliest.
“The people who have ruled in the State have virtually exploited the masses in the name of democracy. Separatists should come forward and contest the 2014 Assembly elections so that the people feel relieved from the autocracy being carried out in the name of democracy,” said Prof Singh.
He alleged the State Government has always been pampered and patronized by New Delhi under a conspiracy. “In 1947 the Dogra rule came to end to pave way for democracy, but nothing like that has happened as people still are exploited by the Government at large,” he said.
Prof Singh said that issues can be resolved through ballot and not by bullet. He said the mainstream politics of the State has been dominated by few families adding the participation of separatist groups like Hurriyat Conference would lead to the end of the hegemony of the family based mainstream politics.
