JAMMU, Aug 27: Honing the leadership traits and instilling the spirit of shouldering responsibility, Birla Open Minds International School organised a function in the School premises, here today.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by Ganesh Vandana.
Synchronizing with the sublime symphonies of the pipe band, it was a spectacular show to see the students marching and carrying house flags with a supreme sense of pride. The ceremony started with March Past of the students of four houses, followed by an oath taking ceremony.
The chief guest for the occasion, along with Heads of School honoured the new student council by presenting sashes and badges. The newly elected office bearers pledged to work honestly and uphold the glory of the School. The position holders and all-rounders of the School were also awarded with trophies and certificates.
Rohnit Heera was elected as head boy and Insha Malik as head girl, while Vardaan Verma as discipline captain, Urva Khan as deputy discipline captain, Aditya Sharma as sports captain and Soha Taka as deputy sports captain. The newly elected house captains were Harshit, Geetika, Divyansh and Toiba, while house vice captains were Shriya Shahji, Samia, Ayesha and Samrat.
Principal of the School, Aparana Kohli congratulated all the office bearers, and said that the School council body represents values of righteousness, responsibility, integrity and leadership and urged the students to realise the importance of opportunities that come their way and acquire skills that will make them worthy citizens of society.
The celebration concluded with the National Anthem.
