JAMMU, Oct 1: The birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated with patriotic fervour and zeal.
A series of online activities were organized by Government MAM College to commemorate 150th Gandhi Jayanti celebrations under the guidance of Prof (Dr) GS Rakwal, Principal of the college. The activities included Essay Writing Poster Making, Quiz Competition and Video Messages on the relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in modern times. About 350 students of the college participated in varied online activities organized on 28th, 29th and 1st October, 2020. A cash prize of Rs 1000, Rs 750 and Rs 500 respectively will b e given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners in different categories. The organizing committee included Prof Amitpal Kour, Convenor, Dr Banpreet Kour, Dr Joginder Singh, Prof Shivi Mehra and Dr Jasvinder Singh. Abhinandhan Dheiman, Pooja Chalgotra and Purshotam Rajput stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Essay writing competition. In the Poster making competition, 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Palavi Singh, Zoravar Singh and Gurpreet Kour respectively. In the Quiz competition, 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were clinched by Vimal Kumar, Danish Bagal, Sohil Choudhary respectively. Shariq Bashir, Sparsh Dubey and Anchal Singh secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Video Messages Category.
On the occasion of birth anniversary of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, NCC and NSS units of GGM Science College organized various activities and events scheduled for three days under the patronage of Principal Dr Ravender Tickoo. The event was graced by the presence of Prof Pushp Amla and Prof Ajay Gupta. Dr Narender kumar and Dr Deepali Mahajan (NSS POs), Dr (Capt) Anjana Sharma and Dr Fraz Ahmed (NCC ANOs) supervised the activities of NSS volunteers and NCC cadets.
Government Degree College Bani organized Online Quiz Competition on topic “Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in 21st Century” to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The competition was held under the guidance of College Principal Dr MS Pathania and supervision of Prof Sanjeev Verma, HOD Maths Department and Dr Ram Krishan, Assistant Prof Maths Department. A total of 146 students from various institutions of J&K UT and other States participated in the Quiz Competition and 82 students were declared successful.
Red Ribbon Club, GDC Ramgarh organized National level online Activities viz Sketching Portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, Collage making on ‘Freedom Movements lead by Mahatma Gandhi, Essay Writing on Life and Teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, Patriotic song competition and visit to village ‘Kalah’ as a part of commemoration of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. In Sketching Portrait Competition, Riya Gupta of GGM Science College Jammu secured first position, Shallu Sharma of Government MAM College Jammu bagged second position and the third position was shared by Riya Sharma of GGM Science College and Priyanka Devi of GCW Gandhi Nagar. In Essay Writing Competition, Manik Gupta of GCET Jammu bagged first position, Ramni Devi of GCW Kathua secured second position and Diksha Sharma of GDC Ramgarh clinched the third position. In Collage Making Competition, Manik Gupta of GCET Jammu bagged first position, Diksha Sharma of GDC Ramgarh secured second rank and Riya Rani of GDC Ramgarh stood third. In Patriotic Song Competition, Rithima Raina of Delhi University stood first, Akshita Pangotra of GDC Kathua secured second position and Vandana Sarmal of GCW Gandhi Nagar stood third. These activities were organised under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Meeru Abrol, Principal GDC Ramgarh.
NSS unit GDC Ramnagar organized inter collegiate online series of programmes to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Prof Hari Singh Convener of the programme gave welcome address in the inaugural function. Rohit Ranjan from ‘Art of Living” was chief resource person, who enlightened the audiences on “Role of Yoga in Peace of Mind”. Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Udhey Bhanu presented floral tribute to the Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi along with the staff members.
To celebrate this auspicious day, NSS Unit of GDC Kalakote organized “Talk on Gandhi” to pay tribute the Father of Nation and to remember his courageous deeds on the way of struggle for freedom for Nation from British Rule. Various aspects of his life were discussed. The talk ended by singing his favourite song “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sita Ram” in order to pay homage to Gandhiji. Principal GDC Kalakote Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta encouraged the participants and faculty members.
To commemorate birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Government Degree College Marh organised week long series of various online activities under the guidance of Professor Aekta Gupta Principal GDC Marh. In the Slogan Writing Competition, Anchal Sharma of 3rd Semester, Shivani Devi of 1st Semester, Sonali Sharma of 1st Semester, Ankita mottan of 3rd Semester were selected as best presentation by the cultural and literary committee. In another activity of kavita vaachan, Anchal Sharma of 3rd Semester and Diksha Thakur of 3rd Semester has send writeup in Dogri and Hindi language which gives the message of truth, peace and non-violence among society. In the Inter College Quiz Competition, Shuvam Mankotia 5th Semester of GDC Billawar stood first, whereas Arpit Gupta 3rd Semester and Vishvam Badyal 1st Semester of GDC Marh shared 2nd position whereas Jhanvi Sharma and Ankita Mottan of 3rd Semester shared 3rd position. Manik Kumar of GCET Jammu has been selected as best message on Gandhian ideology.
GDC Padder organised online intra-college essay writing and slogan writing competition on the theme “The Ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and His Life” to commemorate the day. The students, who secured top three positions in essay writing competition were Shalini Devi of Semester-III, Manoj Kumar of Semester-II and Eakta of Semester-I. In slogan writing competition, Anisha Rana, Amresh Kumar and Koshal Kumar, all from Semester-III bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana, organised various events. Principal RHS Anita shared her thoughts on the occasion. Managing Director of RHS Ruchi Charak also expressed her views.
On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, BJP Unit Minority Morcha Ganderbal launched cleanliness drive in different areas of the district Ganderbal. Those who participated in this drive include Senior BJP leader Ruheena Shahzad, Nazir Ahmed Raina and many other senior leaders and workers.
