JAMMU, Oct 11: The birth anniversary of Anand Swami Shri Pran Nath Bhat ‘Gareeb’ Baijee (Gurudev) was celebrated today with religious fervor and gaiety at Krishna Satsangh Bhavan, Bohri, Jammu.
On the occasion, the disciples of Gurudev from within and outside Jammu thronged the place in good numbers. The celebration commenced at 10 am with birthday Pooja performed by well known Purohit, Tejnath Ji in the presence of Dr Manmohan Shastri.
This was followed by Guru-pooja as per established traditions of Swamiji’s Gurudwar. The disciples and the entire gathering stood up in semi-circles with earthenware lamps in their hands and sang Guru-bhajan amidst the beating of drums, conch shells and bells.
Kuldeep Handoo, an ardent disciple of Gurudev, with his high tone voice besides his harmonium classics enthralled the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, Gurudev described the Guru-Pooja as the total worship of faith, devotion and surrender. Describing the importance of Guru, he stated that ‘Guru’ is the supreme commander having Godli-hood and eternity in his garb. Guru cannot be put in the brackets when he is the integral part of the whole.
The gathering was also addressed by guest of the honour, Ramesh Hangloo, CEO, Radio Sharda Jammu. Complementing Gurudev for his over 200 Leelas published in two volumes of Sanjeevani, he stated that the Leelas through and through deal with the processes and the intricacies involved in the spirituality, and how to attain the final liberation.
The function concluded with serving of Prasad to the gathering.
