BIS to organise Bike Rally to Siachen base camp on World Standards Day

JAMMU, Oct 7: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), J&K Branch Office (JKBO) will celebrate World Standards Day 2024 as ‘Manak Mahotsav’ and will organise programmes like bike rally from Srinagar to Siachen base camp.
In this regard Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Director General, BIS extended best wishes to BIS JKBO.
Tilak Raj, Director & Head, BIS JKBO said: “The event will start with Manak Mahotsav and a Stakeholders’ Conclave at BIS JKBO which will be followed by a Quality March and various engaging activities such as poster-making competitions, quality runs and skits, involving students from various educational institutions and industrial associations and the day will conclude with prize distribution.”
He further informed that on October 9, the Bike Rally will be flagged off from Dalgate, Srinagar by Deputy Director General North BIS and a conclave will also be held at District Industries Centre, Anantnag on the same day while on October 10 the Stakeholders Conclave will be held in Khyber Industries, Srinagar.
The Director and Head, BIS JKBO said that before setting out, the riders will make a brief stop at NIT Srinagar and from there, the rally will move towards the Kargil War Memorial in Drass and on October 11, the rally will host an event with 121 Brigade at Kargil War Memorial, paying tribute to the soldiers and highlighting the role of standards in ensuring safety and quality in the toughest environments.
“From there, the riders will proceed to Hundurmaan village, the last village near LoC, to raise awareness about BIS standards among local communities,” he maintained adding: “The journey will continue with stops at Magnetic Hill, Lamayuru Monastery, Sangam Point and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib before reaching Khardungla Pass and the final destination, Siachen Base Camp will be reached via Nubra valley on October 12.”
As the riders hoist the BIS Flag at Siachen Base Camp, they will symbolize the success of BIS’s mission to make quality a priority, not just within cities but across every corner of the country.
