JAMMU, Apr 6: The  36th Foundation Day of Bharatiya Janata Party was celebrated across the State by the party by hoisting party flags by senior leaders, ministers, MLAs, MLCs and others today.
At party headquarters in Jammu, BJP State president and  MLA Sat Sharma along with State general secretary  Dr Narinder Singh, Minister of Industries & Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga, Forest Minister Ch Lal Singh, PHE Minister Sham Choudhary and State Secretary Sanjay Baru, hoisted the flag in presence of State office bearers, senior leaders and workers.
Sat Sharma also hoisted the party flag at polling booth number 106 falling in his Assembly Constituency.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, alongwith Ex-Corporator Pushpa Wazir, hoisted party flag in Ward No. 41 in Bohri area of Talab Tillo.
Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with PHE Minister Sham Choudhary, State Secretary Vikram Randhawa, MLA Dr Gagan Bhagat and District president Brijeshwar Rana, hoisted the party flags at a number of polling booths in Suchetgarh  and RS Pura Assembly constituencies.
MLC Ashok Khajuria, along with Mahila Morcha State President Purnima Sharma, hoisted the party flag in  Booth numbers 1,2 & 3 of Panjtirthi.
State vice president Mamta Singh, alongwith Jammu West District president Ayodhya Gupta, hoisted flag in Both Number 71 in Talab Tillo.
State vice-president Yudhvir Sethi hoisted party flag in Booth Number 69 of Sainik Colony.
State General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, alongwith MLA Kavinder Gupta and District president Baldev Billawaria, hoisted flags in Booths Number 56, 57 and 58 in Gangyal.
State general secretary Pawan Khajuria, along with District president Rakesh Gupta, hoisted flag in Booth Number 83 of Saila Talab in Udhampur city.
State general secretary Harinder Gupta, alongwith party leader Indu Bhushan, hoisted party flags in Booth Numbers 64,65, 66 & 67 of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
MoS Education,  Priya  Sethi hoisted party flag in Ward Number 10.
MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta hoisted party flag at Purani Mandi and Kaleeth Mohalla and greeted the party workers on this occasion.
Sat Sharma, while greeting the party activists, said that it was on this day in 1980 that BJP came into existence with a commitment to work for the upliftment of the people of all the regions the country and strengthen nationalist forces. The founding goal of BJP had not been power but for all round development of the people and the nation.
Dr Nirmal Singh, after flag hoisting said that in fact, BJP is a social and political movement. It is on account of its unique work culture and total dedication to the cause of nation building that it has grown into the largest political party in the world within a short span of over three decades.
Jugal Kishore Sharma (MP) and Ashok Khajuria (MLC) also spoke on the occasion.
At Bhaderwah,  BJP Sathapna Divas  function was held under the leadership of Des Raj Kotwal. Mandal president Ramneek Manhas  and Bal Krishan Kotwal were also present besides a large number of workers and Mandal office bearers. They hoisted the party flag.
Foundation Day function of the party was also organised at Gulmarg in Kashmir  where senior BJP leader Mohd Anwar Khan cut the cake. Anwar while congratulating the workers resolved to work for the party and also strengthening BJP-PDP coalition  in Baramulla.
