JAMMU, May 2: In order to monitor the performance of its Ministers and legislators in the State, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) High Command has framed a proforma which both Ministers and legislators will be asked to fill up after visiting every district and mandal in their constituencies and having interaction with people and workers of the Party there after every fortnight.
This decision was taken by the party High Command during the three days tour of BJP national president Amit Shah to Jammu after he received complaints from senior functionaries of the Party about the dismal performance of some of the Ministers and legislators among whom some were accused of brining Congress culture in the party while others were targeted as their functioning has not been up to the mark.
According to party sources, the BJP High Command taking serious exception to these allegations about the functioning of some of the Ministers and legislators, who have lost the contact with the grass root level workers in their respective constituencies and people, decided that every legislator will visit one Mandal in his constituency after every fortnight and sit with the workers and take stock of the peoples problems etc there.
They will interact with people and workers and fill up the proforma which will be presented in the Party office and the same will be monitored by Party leadership in the State as well as the High Command including Amit Shah at Party Headquarters New Delhi on regular basis.
As the Party has no MLA from Kashmir valley, the task has been assigned to MLCs of the Party. They have been asked to visit the Mandals in Kashmir and interact with the party workers and people there. This step was taken as a part of party’s strategy as BJP wants equitable development of all three regions of the State.
Likewise, the Ministers were asked to visit every district after a fortnight to have interaction with the party functionaries there. With this decision the party High Command does not only want to monitor the performance of Ministers and legislators on regular basis but also maintain a proper liaison with grass root level workers to strengthen the party further and also solve the public grievances.
While the Ministers have been asked to visit the two Assembly segments in a fortnight, the MLAs were asked to visit in the mandals of their own constituencies in a fortnight and the MLCs have been assigned the task of visiting one Assembly segment in Valley and one in Jammu to interact with party workers, people and administration and take complete feed back on people’s problems, developmental agenda of Government and hurdles if any coming in the way of development process.
Sources said the BJP leadership is working on framing of proforma and the process in this regard will be completed within some days as the party High Command does not want to come across such complaints in future. However, Amit Shah has issued directives to State Unit that the proforma should be completed within week.
Sources said Amit Shah had asked the State leadership not to be overambitious by eyeing the Ministerial berths and instead advised them to devote more time in strengthening the Party and increasing their liaison with grass root level workers and people. “If every party functionary will look towards Ministerial berth then who will run the party”, sources added while quoting BJP national president.
Sources said that warnings were given to some Ministers also against whom the complaints were received by the national president and they were categorically told that Party will not tolerate any shortcomings on their part as it wanted results on ground.
Sources said even some legislators and party leaders were taken to task and reprimanded by national president for making statements by not toeing to the party line. They were asked to maintain the party discipline instead of making public statements which are not in consonance with Party’s line of action.
