JAMMU, June 24: To discuss the poll strategy in four States including J&K in which elections are to be held by this year end, BJP is holding a high level meeting at Union Capital tomorrow. The meeting will be chaired by party president and Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh.
According to party sources, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is likely to attend the meeting which among others will be attended by JP Nadda and Ram Lal party general secretaries, council of Ministers and senior BJP leaders.
Sources said the representatives of the four States will also be present in the meeting to provide feed back to Party High Command about the elections in their respective States. The J&K will be represented by party general secretary, Bali Bhagat. Besides, State president and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and MoS in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh will also participate in the meeting.
The meeting, besides devising the poll strategy for the elections of these States, the tour programme of the Ministers will also be chalked out in their presence.
Sources said every Minister will visit the State and address public meetings in three to five Assembly segments. The visit of Ministers in Jammu region will be from July 25 to July 31 which will be followed by Kashmir and Ladakh regions in the month of August, sources added.
Besides the Union Ministers, the Ministers from BJP run states and senior party leaders will also visit the four States going to polls by end of the year, sources said, adding the Core Committee meeting of the party which was held here, today discussed the tour programme of Ministers and Central leaders in detail.
The Core Committee meeting was chaired by Ram Lal, national, general secretary of the party. It also shortlisted some candidates for the Assembly elections in the State but their names were kept a top secret, sources said, adding the probable candidates have however been given the indication to go in their respective constituencies and start campaigning.
Besides, Ram Lal the meeting was attended by J P Nadda another national general secretary of the party, Party Seh Prabhari for J&K R P Singh, Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, party State president and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, ex presidents, Ashok Khajuria, Dr Nirmal Singh and Shamsher Singh Manhas, four party general secretaries, Ashok Kaul, Bali Bhagat, Kavinder Gupta and Rajiv Jasrotia.
The Core Committee meeting was followed by yesterday’s State Executive Committee meeting. While devising the poll strategy for coming Assembly elections, the meeting decided that Ram Lal will be overall in charge of the election process in the State while Mr Nadda will look after Kashmir, R P Singh will be in charge of Ladakh region and Party Prabhari for J&K Avinash Rai Khanna will look after Jammu region.
The Core Committee also devised the strategy for the Parivartan yatra which will be launched in the State from the month of August. It gave main thrust in the constitution of booth committees which according the party is the key to its success in the Assembly poll in the State.
Sources said that State unit of the party will also be reconstituted with the election of Jugal Kishore Sharma as MP and some new faces are making rounds for the post of party president in the State.
Meanwhile, when contacted BJP Seh Prabhari for J&K R P Singh said that party will enter into alliance with small groups and parties in Jammu region and in this regard he did not rule out of holding a pre-poll alliance with Panthers party in Jammu and independent like Ashwani Sharma and others.
He said likewise party is identifying some groups other than NC, PDP and JKPC in Kashmir valley with whom the electoral adjustments can be made.
The meeting further decided that special emphasis will be laid on remote regions, Muslim majority areas, SCs, STs, OBCs, farmers, border people and youth. The issue of refugees of various hues and categories was specially focused on at the meeting and the ameliorative measures that could be taken to tackle their hardships and sufferings were considered.
It was also decided that goal of enhancement and rationalization of pay of SPOs and VDCs would also be pursued vigorously. The problems of the youth would also be focused and means to tackle the same shall also be pursued diligently and sincerely.
In addition to these issues, the various facets of forthcoming Assembly elections were also discussed. Some party workers from different constituencies were also considered as candidates in the coming elections and they have been given signal to gear up their political activities in respective Assembly constituencies. The names of such candidates will be announced strategically in due course of time, sources said.
J P Nadda, while talking to the media persons on the sideline of the meeting, said that issues for the forthcoming elections have been finalized and party workers will be soon going into the public with these issues. He also said that for every constituency Incharge has been finalized who would be anchors during the electioneering and they will not be contesting the elections themselves.
He appealed to the voters once again to support BJP in the Assembly elections so that mission 44+ is achieved and BJP Government is installed in the State.
