BJP lambasts Cong for misleading people, highlights achievements

KATHUA, Jan 4: BJP today lambasted Congress for launching a false propaganda against the Narendra Modi Government as well as the Party and termed its all allegations against the Party and Government totally baseless and false.
The BJP leaders while addressing a press conference here today lashed out at Congress for misleading public opinion on allotment of land for settlement of border people as was announced by Union Minister in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh who represents Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha Constituency. The BJP leaders said that 658 kanals of land were identified in different villages by the Government for the settlement of border people.
The district president of the Party for Kathua Prem Nath Dogra while elaborating said out of it 262 kanals and one marla of land was identified in village Kanah, 199 kanals in village Said and 197kanals and 18 marlas in Sohal after the issue was taken up by Dr Singh with the Government. However the project fell through after the objections were raised by the Defence and BSF authorities who said that nowhere in the world there is a practice of shifting the people from border areas to other places as borders can’t be left empty.
He said later it was decided that community bunkers will be constructed and the work on the same was started from Arnia area of Jammu district while the people in Hiranagar border belt said that instead of community bunkers individual bunkers be constructed for them.
He said the proposal is lying in the Union Home Ministry in this regard and there is every hope that the same will be accorded sanction as Dr Jitendra Singh is himself pursuing it.
Highlighting the welfare and developmental schemes taken up in hand in the Jammu region Dogra said that it was with the efforts of Dr Singh that work is going on Rs 159 crore Kedia Gandyal bridge in Kathua while three more bridges in border area at the cost of Rs 150 crore were sanctioned.
He said it was with the efforts of Union MoS from J&K that the compensation for the person killed in border firing was raised to Rs five lakh and also the compensation for cattle killed in firing was also sanctioned.
He said besides, Medical College and Engineering College for Kathua were got sanctioned due to efforts of Dr Singh. The BJP leader said in addition to this during the BJP tenure one AIIMS each for Jammu and Kashmir were sanctioned while Jammu also got an IIT and IIM.
He said under PMGSY scheme 73 roads at an estimated cost of Rs 404 crore were got sanctioned in Kathua- Doda Constituency as well as Bio Technology Park at Ghati Kathua has also been sanctioned.
Strongly refuting the Congress allegations Dogra said that Congress is under desperation after seeing that huge crowd is attending the rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hence they are leveling false allegations on the Government.
Turning tables on Congress, he said the Party which boycotted the National Anthem in Assembly is making such allegations. He said PoK refugees issue was settled by this Government which Congress failed to do in over last 60 years. He also criticized the Congress for opposing note ban and alleged that this way the party was supporting the hoarders of black money and not poor.
Others present in the press conference were Chatter Singh and Rajinder Singh district vice presidents of BJP, Kaka Sing district president Kissan Morcha, Indu Rekha district president BJP Women Cell, Vicky Sharma district secretary of the Party, Vikas Kant district president B JYM and Pankaj Khajuria.
