JAMMU, Jan 16: Former J&K Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad today alleged that BJP Government was misleading the world over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and it has totally failed to improve economic condition of the country and contain the rising problem of unemployment.
Talking to mediapersons after arriving here from Union capital along with AICC general secretary, Ambika Soni for holding deliberations with the party cadre here this afternoon, Azad said on the day, the State of Jammu and Kashmir was converted into the two Union Territories, the destruction in J&K commenced. He said New Delhi is still clueless how to run Government in Jammu and Kashmir. They have damaged J&K and the people here in big way, he added.
“Post abrogation of Article 370 and creation of two UTs, the BJP Government has made three attempts to mislead the world and the people of this country over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Some selective Members of Parliament from various countries were taken to J&K. They were not allowed to meet local leadership, common man, media and the trader fraternity in Kashmir. They were allowed to meet only those selective people, who are frequently invited to New Delhi and are in touch with the top leaedership in Delhi. The actual ground position was not shown to them. This entire visit was stage managed by the people at the helm of affairs in Delhi,” Azad maintained.
“Then again, selective Ambassadors from various favourite countries were invited to visit Kashmir. Again, they were allowed to meet only those few people and not the common man, local leadership, media or suffering traders in Kashmir. Even the envoy from the most favoured and friendly country , Russia was not invited. That country even objected over the issue after this visit,” Azad added.
The AICC leader alleged that BJP led Government wanted to take only those people to Kashmir who were prepared to buy the BJP’s cooked story. But after the recent visit of envoys, they have perhaps come to know that there are no more buyers of their story. They stood exposed now. There is communication shut down in J&K since long and the students, scholars, teachers, traders and unemployed people are the worst hit. They are not bothered about it. Their tall claims of massive development, special employment drives, huge investmemnts etc stand exposed, he alledged.
Now, dozens of Ministers from Modi Govt will be visiting J&K during next week to witness only ‘destruction’ and spread falsehood and befool innocent people of J&K. This Government has only spread falsefood and made tall hollow claims for which the people are not going to spare them.
While replying to the comments on the connection of a DySP of J&K Police with the militants, who was recently arrested in Kashmir, Azad said, “ No single individual can be a part of such nexus. Certainly, some body at the top in any circle will be connected with the whole episode. There is need to hold a fair and transparent high level probe into the matter. It has always been a tragedy with this Government that no fair investigation was held in several cases. It has bad track record in this connection. We expect an impartial and fair probe into the case so that truth is brought before the country”.
Meanwhile, AICC general secretary and incharge J&K affairs of the Party, Ambika Soni and LOP in Rajya Sabha, Azad held series of interactions with senior party leaders including former Ministers, legislators, DCC presidents and heads of various frontal wings of the party over the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and organizational affairs.
Both AICC leaders held detailed deliberations during the day , till late evening and got the feed back about the state of affairs including political and security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. The two leaders will address a meeting of PCC Executive tomorrow at a local hotel in Narwal area , in which prominent party leaders from Kashmir will also participate. After interaction with media at 2.30 pm there, they will fly back to Delhi, a party spokesman said.
