JAMMU, Feb 11: Various political organisations have expressed concern over the harassment being faced by passengers of Inter-State buses at Lakhanpur COVID Check Post and demanded that there should be no restrictions on the plying of Inter-State buses to Jammu.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri today urged the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to take a serious note of unhealthy developments taking place at Lakhanpur, wherein Inter-State passengers especially Mata Vaishno Devi bound pilgrims, are facing huge inconvenience due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Suri said, passengers travelling from far off places like Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh are being asked to de-board their buses and get into J&K RTC buses, even in the middle of night, which is highly inconvenient. Shifting to other vehicles with luggage is a troublesome task especially for women and children, also causing quite a harassment to the passengers. Apart from this, the passengers also have to pay extra fare from Lakhanpur-Jammu even after already paying for their full journey to the Inter-State buses.
Suri urged the Government to make public all rules and regulations if any, so that travellers can decide about their itinerary well in advance and not face any hardships at the eleventh hour, and also stay prepared for the checks and shifting at Lakhanpur.
Expressing deep concern over the harassment of passengers coming from outside States to Jammu and Kashmir UT in Lakhanpur, State president of Hindustan Shiv Sena (HSS), Vikrant Kapoor has warned the Government to stop looting passengers under the cover of COVID-19.
He said this while addressing a press conference here, today. He said that passengers coming from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir were stopped at Lakhanpur, the entry gate and they were being sent forward in buses of the Jammu and Kashmir Transport Corporation. Due to this, the passengers are facing a lot of troubles because they have to wait for many hours there. He said that when there is unlock across the country, it is worrying to harass passengers under the cover of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir.
While condemning the functioning of the Government, he alleged that passengers are being looted under the guise of COVID-19 and all this is happening at the behest of the administration and the Government.
