SAMBA, Aug 30: BJP’s district president, Kashmira Singh in Samba has submitted his resignation to the party head on Friday expressing displeasure over mandate distribution.
The president announced his resignation in a press conference in Samba on Friday and made several allegations against the party State president, Ravinder Raina and said that he wants to include Sheikh Abdullah’s ideology in BJP, which old workers cannot tolerate. He said “We have nurtured the party with our blood when the party did not have any MLA, MP, no one agreed to join the party, since then we have been associated with the party,. We have worked selflessly for the party for 40 to 42 years,” he added.
Today, after 30 years, the Samba Assembly constituency has been opened for the general category and party gave mandate to Surjit Singh Salathia, who has come from the National Conference. “We do not accept this decision”. He warned with a heavy heart that till Surjit Singh Salathia’s ticket is not withdrawn, there is no question of my returning to the party.
He said “If the party saw any shortcomings in me, then they should have given the ticket to a local worker, we would not have been upset”. In Samba, since 1996 till date, tickets have been given to outsiders. In 1996, Babu Parmanand was fielded, in 2008, Satwant Kaur was defeated in the Assembly elections, and in 2014, Dr. Davinder Kumar Manyal was given a ticket after being made to resign from his job in the Health Department, and now in 2024, Surjit Singh Salathia, who left the NC, has been given a ticket. “How long will this continue? That is why we have resigned from this party today”.
BJYM leader, Kanav Sharma also resigned from the party along with his supporters in protest against the party leaderships wrong policies and blamed them of compromising with party ideology. He has submitted his resignation to BJYM president, Arun Prabaht Singh and district president BJP, Pramod Kapahi.
