JAMMU, Feb 4: A delegation of Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), led by its National President Kundan Kashmiri, visited the BJP headquarters today and handed over a memorandum of demands to leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria (MLA), National Executive Member & Chief Spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh and others.
The memorandum, among other things, demanded immediate passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill, permission to Kashmiri Hindus to visit Sharda Temple in PoK, age relaxation for eligibility of over aged Kashmiri Pandit youth in Government jobs and dignified return of the displaced community back to Valley.
Ashok Khajuria informed the delegation that the BJP has all along stood for the genuine demands of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community and shall continue to take up their cause on roads as well as in the Assembly. Referring to the forthcoming session of Assembly begining February 10, Khajuria assured that the party MLAs will raise their demands on the floor of the house, including passage of the pending Temples and Shrines Bill.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits and any plan for their return to the Valley should be unanimously acceptable to the entire community. He said it is an irony that even after nearly 25 years, Kashmiri Pandits continue to live in exile while the Coalition Government is more concerned about the rehabilitation of former militants.
KPC State Chairman Dr. T.K. Bhat, KPC Youth leader Premil Bhat were the members of the delegation.
