BJP trying to destroy cultural identity of J&K: Sharma

JAMMU, Nov 7: BJP led Central Government is trying to destroy the cultural identity of J&K by selling the land to outsiders.
This was stated by Ashok Sharma, former legislator and Coordinator AICC Vichar Vibhag today while addressing workers meet at Block Doongi of Kalakote Assembly Segment.
Sharma claimed that BJP has betrayed the people of Jammu by snatching away their lands and jobs.
“The ruling dispensation had earlier promised to secure land and jobs for the local youth but taking a u-turn it has now decided to open it for everyone which will reduce the opportunity for locals,” he said adding that new land laws are a gift by BJP to J&K.
Sharma urged upon the Central Government to restore statehood to J&K with job and land security for locals. “What we seek are not privileges but basic protective rights that this government has promised. Since 2019, when J&K became a Union Territory, the Centre has enacted not a single law or passed a single order meant to uplift the people of J&K,” Sharma said.
He also said even jobs which were promised were not delivered and the same goes with other promises.
“We need laws to protect the distinct identity and culture of J&K people while simultaneously ushering in growth and development, and this Government has no intention of thinking in that direction,” he continued demanding special employment package for the youth of J&K as the corona pandemic has rendered millions jobless.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion were senior Congress leader, Som Raj Khajuria, Vijay Moji, President BCC Doongi, Counselor, Darbari Lal, Advocate Junaid Hussain, Abdul Khaliq, Ex.
